Borderlands será un FPS ambientado en un mundo post-apocalíptico, desolado y lleno de extrañas y peligrosas criaturas (uhmmm..¿Dónde lo habré oído con anterioridad?). El marco espacial es un planeta llamado Pandora, el cuál está dividido entre una civilización recluida, y un mundo exterior salvaje y peligroso. Por lo que se ve en sus imágenes y por su argumento, vehículos, diseño de personajes, paisajes áridos, etc., la estética y la ambientación parecen sacadas de Mad Max, de la que también bebe Rage y con el que mantiene otras similitudes.

Uno de los aciertos viene en su planteamiento de enfocar la historia para ser llevada a término en modo multijugador cooperativo, lo que no quita que se pueda hacer el modo historia a nivel individual. Pero sin duda será más apetecible recorrer los vastos terrenos en compañía de un amigo a los mandos de un vehículo, mientras uno se dedica a destruir animalejos y seres abominables.

Según parece Borderlands no será un juego de acción típico, ya que además de controlar vehículos, y manejar cantidad de armas diferentes, también se han introducido ciertos elementos de rol para aportar mayor profundidad.

Sobre su aspecto gráfico, un servidor alberga muchas esperanzas. Utilizando el motor gráfico Unreal engine 3 y las modificaciones que hayan hecho de él los chicos de Gearbox, se ha conseguido crear con lujo de detalles unos escenarios interesantes. Por lo que se ve en sus imágenes el modelado es muy digno, y el detalle de sombras y luces espectacular. Si a todo esto le añadimos un diseño de personajes e escenarios excelente, entonces su acabado gráfico no puede más que hacernos salivar de antemano.

Todo parece apuntar a que Borderlands se puede erigir como uno de esos juegos a superar en su género, con el que esperemos que 2K vuelva a marcar un precedente tal y como hizo con Bioshock. Habrá que ver como responde en términos jugables, porque su despliegue técnico y artístico se presenta muy gustoso. Seguiremos informando sobre esta perla, que aún tiene pendiente su fecha de estreno.

Y de postre, para los masoquistas que quieran liberar saliva, el trailer de Borderlands. Muchas cinemáticas, un gran ritmo, y lo más importante deja la sensación de estar contemplando una gran propuesta a muchos niveles
